network autoconfigure tool
A VBS script that prompts the administrator for basic network settings and proceeds to update them. It's intended to be placed in the RunOnce key of the Win 9x registry right before creating an image of the machine. That way, when a new machine is imaged, the first thing it does is ask you for its network settings before they're initialized, and saves the admin the time of waiting for windows to finish booting plus the time to wade through several screens to change settings. I use it on a DHCP network, but with a little tweaking it could be used with static IP's.
Eventually I plan to convert this to perl and use DBI to connect to a database with system MAC addresses so it will auto-configure itself. Or learn how to get the MAC address with VBS and use ODBC to connect. That'll only work with DHCP though...
